Please complete the exercise on the “left-hand column Discussion Board” from the text on pg 47.

Do the “left hand column” exercise in the text on pg. 47. Write at least two paragraphs. Analyze the conversation using quotes to reflect and interpret an encounter to achieve optimal results. Reflect the conversation in a table form so you can analyze the words in a better format. Don’t describe your analysis until you have quoted “you said and s/he said”. It is important to include this verbiage to analyze how statements might be interpreted and then consider changing the language for a better result. Write two paragraphs describing your analysis and post in the discussion board.

You must submit two substantive peer responses.

Be careful not to describe the conversation event. Do not explain or retell the circumstances, but quote the conversation. You are focused on the words that are used in the encounter instead.

  • Paragraph 2: Suggest ways the conversation could have been improved. Focus on rephrasing for clarity, respect, and better results.

Step 5: Engage in Peer Responses

  • Read classmates’ posts carefully.

  • Comment substantively (about 200 words). Examples:

    • Point out something insightful in their analysis.

    • Offer an alternative interpretation of the dialogue.

    • Suggest another way the language could have been reframed.

Step 6: Final Checklist Before Posting
